To say that I am proud of them, doesn’t really cover it!

I’ve worked with many children in various capacities over my career but nothing quite fills me with pride as much as the members at Sound Pop Academy.

Our Southampton academy has been running for a while now and we have had so many children walk through our doors. Some have been nervous to start, some have been boisterous and full of energy but, all have had one thing in common. A passion for singing. As soon as children start singing with us, it takes a little guidance to show them the Sound Pop Academy way of doing things. It is amazing what you can learn in a 2 hour session, in a choir. The children work so hard in each session. They sing at the top of their lungs, dance with precision and perform with power. Add in a few games, a lot of fun and you have a room full of kids who have given their all and are usually hot and sweaty as they greet their parents. It makes me incredibly proud to see such dedicated and hard working young people push themselves to perform in a way they never thought they could.  When the children start to close their eyes and sing as if no-one is watching, you know you are on to something special.

For me, I love it when they perform together. Whether it is a low key charity event or a theatre performance to a sold out audience. Nothing gives me more pride than to watch them performing, showing the world what they can do. I love to show them off and prove that all of the practice and hard work was worth while. Yes, I’m not afraid to admit that behind the scenes, my eyes will be a little watery as I watch them beaming at a whooping audience who are all on their feet, knowing that I was a part in providing that opportunity for them. Opportunities that they will no doubt remember for a very long time. To say that I am proud of them, doesn’t really cover it!

Public Workshops

We run incredible public workshops throughout the year for young people aged 7-17! Tickets for our public workshops tend to go quickly, so be sure to keep checking back for new events if we’re sold out.
