Supporting your child’s mental health…

At Sound Pop Academy, we pride ourselves on our high quality sessions. But, behind the creative magic, there are a tonne of processes and policies in place to protect all of our young singers. Our Child Protection Policy was recently rated outstanding by Southampton City Council. We’re really proud of this as we really feel that the safety of our members whilst in our care is paramount. This should be the utmost priority for all groups looking after young people.

Mental health has recently been recognised as a safeguarding issue which we think is really welcomed. For that reason, Dan Cooper (one of our academy directors) is also our designated mental health lead. Dan is really passionate about supporting people with their mental health and that is why his knowledge and expertise in this field is really beneficial at Sound Pop Academy.

We aim to create a safe and supportive space for all of our members to be who they want to be. A place of consistency and support where they can truly express themselves. A place where they can speak to a member of the Sound Pop Academy team if they need to. We hire empathetic and talented staff that have the ability to listen, support and encourage. All of these factors create an environment that can do wonders for confidence and growth (not only in height 😂) for our members.

Mental health effects all of us. Academy staff, parents and young people alike. Knowing how to support those who need it is only ever a good thing and creating an environment that feels safe is paramount. Talking, sharing and communicating are all really important tools in your mental health toolkit.

Not only that but singing is so good for mental health. That is why we know that the service we provide can be so beneficial for all young people who engage in the work we do. Keep talking, keep sharing and most importantly, keep singing! 😍

Public Workshops

We run incredible public workshops throughout the year for young people aged 7-17! Tickets for our public workshops tend to go quickly, so be sure to keep checking back for new events if we’re sold out.
