We run incredible public workshops throughout the year for young people aged 7-17! Tickets for our public workshops tend to go quickly, so be sure to keep checking back for new events if we’re sold out.

What am I looking forward to the most when sessions resume?
The last few months have been so challenging for all of us! I have tried so hard to focus on as many positives as I can, such as enjoying extra time with my family and more time enjoying the simple things in life. With each change to the lockdown, a little bit of my normal life has resumed but there is one, huge, screaming void….Sound Pop Academy!
At Sound Pop Academy, we have provided weekly singing sessions, weekly dance sessions, group games, competitions, singing workshops, group chats, live Instagram posts….you name it and we’ve tried it! We have tried our very hardest to provide a service to our wonderful members and keep them singing and connected with each other.
However much we have achieved during lockdown, it will never compare to our weekly, face-to-face sessions. I can’t even tell you how excited I will be to see all of the beaming smiles, melodic singing and sassy dancing that I saw week after week. I can’t wait to feel goosebumps as I see and hear songs in their entirety for the first time. But most of all, I can’t wait to see all of my lovely members and hear what they have been up to and give them all a much needed dose of singing and performing. Whenever this day arrives, I will be ready and raring to go!
What Sound Pop Academy means to me.
As a child, I was always very quiet and self conscious. I remember sitting in my primary school singing assembly where my favourite teacher would play her guitar and we would all sing along. The realization that ‘singing made me happy’ started there. I sang in the school choir and it really helped me to find a confidence that I didn’t know I could have. As I grew older, life happened and the singing was lost. I married, settled down, had 2 beautiful children and decided that I was time to do something to boost my self esteem so I joined a professional choir. I have first hand experience of the power of singing in a group. For me personally, it has improved my confidence and well-being massively…. and then Sound Pop Academy came along!
Sound Pop Academy develops many life skills that are important for our young people; respect, hard-work, resilience, confidence and social skills. We provide a safe space for children to thrive, where they know that they are important to us, that their voice matters and that they can be who they want to be without judgement. We have had members who have been painfully shy and extremely nervous for their first session but transform into confident performers within weeks. We have seen members who have had crippling stage fright who, with a few performances under their belt, eventually crave to be front and center, in the limelight. Their performance skills progress week on week and they meet so many like minded young people. We are a team and we all look out for each other. This is the essence of Sound Pop Academy and the reason that I am so proud to be a part of it!
I feel so incredibly lucky that I also get to experience Sound Pop Academy from a parents point of view. My daughter is Sound Pop Academy crazy! She wants to attend every session, every summer workshop, every Sound Pop Academy competition, every social. She loves spending time with our more mature members, who are all superb role models for our younger members, but also loves to welcome and support all of our trial members too. All of the content that we teach is contemporary and really appeals to young people so she is totally hooked!
Watching our members release their inner pop star is the most rewarding experience I could hope for, and that pride in our members is what Sound Pop Academy means to me!
